Meet Michael
I grew up in the Chicago suburbs. My mother worked in nursing, and my father ran small businesses and worked in the trades. From them, I learned the value of hard work, accountability, and showing up for others—lessons that have shaped my career and my approach to leadership.
I’ve spent more than 20 years in healthcare leadership, working in complex environments where decisions have real consequences for people and communities. My work has focused on bringing people together, solving problems thoughtfully, and delivering results in situations that demand both strategy and accountability.
My family’s connection to public service runs deep as well. My brother spent his career in law enforcement and now works in city government, giving me an additional perspective on how local decisions affect public safety and community trust.
I’m not a career politician. I believe local government should be accessible, responsive, and accountable. When I saw neighbors seeking transparency and leadership but not receiving it, I felt a responsibility to step forward.
In addition to my professional background, my work in real estate has given me a direct view of the housing challenges facing our region—from affordability pressures to the impact of development on neighborhoods and infrastructure.
I’m running for City Council to bring a more transparent, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach to local leadership—one that ensures all residents are informed, heard, and included in decisions that shape our community.
My husband, Daniel, grew up in Rohnert Park, and when we had the opportunity to choose where to build our life, we chose Sonoma County. In 2022, we decided to be closer to family, return Daniel to his roots, and build our future in a place that offers both a strong sense of community and the natural beauty that makes Northern California so special.
Since moving here, I’ve come to appreciate both Rohnert Park’s strengths and the challenges it faces. Like many residents, I’ve become increasingly concerned about transparency, how decisions are communicated, and whether growth is being managed in a way that truly reflects the community’s needs.
Our Vision for
Rohnert Park
Michael DeSimone for Rohnert Park City Council is grounded in a simple belief: our city deserves leadership that is present, responsive, and accountable to the people it serves.
We need thoughtful growth that protects what makes Rohnert Park special, stronger communication between city leadership and residents, and a renewed focus on community engagement.
This campaign is about ensuring every voice is heard, decisions are made transparently, and residents feel confident in the direction of our city. Together, we can build a more connected, inclusive, and forward-looking Rohnert Park.

Responsive
Leadership——————————
Our city deserves leadership that shows up, listens, and acts. I am committed to being visible, accessible, and accountable—ensuring residents are informed, heard, and represented in every decision.

Residents shouldn’t have to fight to be heard. I will prioritize open communication, community input, and proactive outreach so decisions reflect the people who live here.
Thoughtful

——————————
Growth should strengthen our community, not outpace it. I support responsible development that aligns with infrastructure, protects neighborhood character, and plans for long-term sustainability.
